Two Eyed Seeing

Two Eyed Seeing And Place Based Learning

In my reconciliation journey, I am learning to bring in more and more Indigenous Ways of Knowing into my lessons and projects to the best of my ability. I have also been lucky enough to have started building good relationships with knowledge keepers in the Piikani Nation that are willing to come along on our field trips to share their knowledge with both myself and my students. As Indigenous Ways of Knowing are so intimately tied to a strong sense of place, it fits in very nicely with a Place Based Learning approach. Two Eyed Seeing seeks to approach learning with one eye focused on Indigenous Ways of Knowing and the other eye focused on Western Ways of Knowing, then bringing this combined vision together for the benefit of everyone.
