Place Based Education and Teton Science Schools

I feel fortunate to have been given the opportunity to learn more about the power of Place Based Education through professional development opportunities with Teton Science Schools. Through these PD opportunities I have been given time to develop place based learning units as well as connecting with a passionate group of educators who share in the same vision.

A Place Based Education helps student communication and inquiry skills as well as allowing students to develop a deeper sense of belonging and respect for their local and global community as well as the environment around them. A Place Based Education is more hands on and engaging for students and allows them to build meaningful connections to the people and places around them.

Another great organization that supports a Place Based Education is Take Me Outside and I try to get involved with many of their challenges throughout the year.
